ABOUT ARTIST

Luis Olaso is a Spanish artist born in 1986 who lives and works in Bilbao. Initially self-taught, he later studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country. Olaso's large, abstract canvases reflect his personal views and feelings, and are created through a process of improvisation and analysis. He first paints impulsively, then spends hours observing and analyzing his work, striving to achieve a visceral and fresh expression of his internal emotions. Olaso is drawn to the contrasts between order and chaos, and his works often incorporate plant elements and human bodies. He considers all his paintings to be dynamic self-portraits, a reflection of his unconscious and irrational mind.
